THE
JACUZZI STORY – 50 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE.
A Story that begins and ends with one word: Innovation

Jacuzzi believes
spas are about more than just getting into hot water, so we provide
high-performance products that celebrate water's ability to refresh
and rejuvenate in inspiring ways. Our product innovations are sparked
by consumer insights and needs and we constantly strive
to deliver experiences that enable you to transition to a better
state of mind and body.
Hydrotherapy was first brought into the home by
Roy Jacuzzi, the first person to add a jet of massaging air to a
standard bathtub. Thanks to Jacuzzi, the benefits of hydrotherapy
have literally transformed peoples' lives. In fact, it has become
such a widespread phenomenon that it has revolutionized the way
people imagine and experience water.
We apply this same innovative spirit and focus on
our customer to every product we make. We make products that push
the envelope, that raise expectations, and that make people feel
better - about themselves, their homes, and their lives. Over the
years, we have diversified our line to include spa seating &
jet arrangements to suit every need. In the end, our products and
superior technology combine warmth, water and air in unique invigorating
configurations to help rejuvenate, refresh, relax and reconnect.
For over 50
years, Jacuzzi has been committed to designing spa products that
are focused on the way you feel. By giving you the opportunity to
relax, reduce stress, relieve aches and pains and to sleep better,
we are able to produce a product that enhances people's health and
happiness. And gives people an escape to a world free of stress
and strain. Reset. Then take on the world again.
| INNOVATION
HAS ALWAYS BEEN AT OUR CORE |
The
first name in hot tub and bath technology is a family name: Jacuzzi®.
Ours is a legacy born of passion for invention. We innovated the
first generation of home hydrotherapy - and now we're moving on
to the next. From our originals to new experiences. From Jacuzzi®
- a legacy of creating transformational experiences with water.
Early
1900's
Around
the turn of the century, seven Jacuzzi brothers immigrated to California
from Italy. Working together, they made strides in aviation by inventing
the first enclosed cabin monoplane. An accomplishment that led to
the airplane that carried mail for the U.S. Postal Service, and
passengers from the San Francisco Bay Area to Yosemite National
Park.
1950's
In 1956, an idea was born. Why not treat a family member's arthritis
symptoms with a hydrotherapy pump. The Jacuzzi brothers invented
a pump and a small niche business was born. The J-300, a portable
pump, was sold to hospitals and schools.
1960's
This
innovative spirit was captured by Roy Jacuzzi, a third-generation
family member who had begun learning the business as a teenager.
Sensing the American consumer's interest in health, fitness and
leisure activities, Roy invented and marketed the first self-contained,
fully integrated whirlpool bath in 1968. By incorporating jets into
the sides of the tub, it became the bath that almost single-handedly
created an industry.
1970's
As
larger units were designed to accommodate several people, Jacuzzi
incorporated heating and filtration systems to keep the water warm
and clean thus creating the first spa in 1970. In 1979, the family
sold to New York-based Kidde Inc. All the family members left the
business or retired, except for Roy, who stayed on to run the Jacuzzi
operations.
1980's
The
80's were a decade of new designs for Jacuzzi. The Avanza was introduced
- a whirlpool bath / hot tub product that could be used in either
configuration. It could be installed inside or outside a house and
was really the first hot tub/whirlpool bath product all in one.
Other new designs included the Illusion - a large whirlpool bath
that look like a volcano coming up out of the ground - and the Fiore
Corner bath which was the first corner to have built-in faucets
and a recirculation water rainbow that delivered a sheet of water
down the rippled acrylic shell in the back of the unit.
1990's
In the early 90's, Roy Jacuzzi was inducted into the National Kitchen
& Bath Hall of Fame, recognizing him for his many contributions
in the innovation of hydrotherapy for home use.

TODAY
Jacuzzi
has become the world's most recognized and largest selling brand
of jetted/whirlpool baths and spas. In addition to the first whirlpool
bath patent, Jacuzzi has 250 worldwide patents for advancements
in pump systems, jet technology, air controls and product design.
This ongoing commitment to innovative product development ensures
Jacuzzi's leadership position in the industry, and sets standards
the world over.
